본 연구실은 강원대학교병원 임상의학연구소 내 대사증후군 연구실이 있으며, 한국연구재단의 연구비 수혜를 받아 비알콜성 지방간질환의 병태생리를 연구하고 있습니다. 특히 비알콜성지방간질환에 특화되어 연구를 진행 중이며, 간섬유화에 직접적인 역할을 하는 간성상세포활성화 억제기전을 연구 중입니다. 또한 혈관내피세포를 이용한 동맥경화성 혈관질환 연구와 제 2형 당뇨병환자를 대상으로 한 임상연구도 함께 병행하고 있습니다. 또한, 강원대학교 예방의학교실 이상아교수 및 서울아산병원 내분비내과 이기업교수팀과 협동연구를 수행 중입니다.

• 환경의생물학교실은 한국을 비롯한 열대 및 아열대 지역에서 발병하는 기생충들을 연구하는 실험실로, 지구 온난화에 따른 대한민국의 평년 기온 상승에 의한 아열대 기후에서 열대성 기후로 변화하고 있는 현재 상황에서 열대성 지역에 발병하는 질환에 대한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 WHO에서 지정한 3대 감염성 질병 중 하나인 말라리아를 중점적으로 연구하고 있습니다.
• 저희 연구실은 말라리아 백신 개발을 최종 목표로 하고 있으며, 백신 후보 물질 탐색에 관한 연구를 통해 새로운 항원 단백질에 대하여 생화학 및 분자생물학적인 메커니즘을 연구하는 등 기초 학문에 의거한 연구가 수행되고 있습니다. 또한 세계적으로 문제가 되는 약제내성 말라리아에 대한 연구와 진단법 개발 등 다양한 분야에 대한 연구를 하고 있습니다.
• 저희의 연구는 국내뿐만 아니라 외국의 연구자들 (일본, 미국, 중국, 태국, 미얀마 등)과의 교류를 통해 말라리아 유행지역 주민을 통한 임상실험의 전단계인 기초연구를 동시에 진행하고 있는 국제적인 연구실로, 해외 연수 및 학회 참석과 같은 활동을 통해 세계의 경향을 확인할 수 있는 다양한 기회를 학생 및 연구원에게 부여함으로써 견문을 넓히고 있습니다. 그리고 이를 통한 다양한 해외 학술지에 논문을 지속적으로 게재하고 있습니다.

Viral epidemiology, Human T cell biology on immunosenescence and autoimmunity

Currently, we are doing research on viral epidemiology. Outbreaks of gastroenteritis remain a major public health concern. The lab is currently focusing on human enteric viruses such as rotaviruses, noroviruses, enteric adenovirus, and bocaviruses. My laboratory does also investigate human T cell biology, focusing on immunosenescence and autoimmunity. We are analyzing the effects of aging and autoimmune diseases on regulatory T cells in humans.

Neurobiology is an integral part of understanding of the brain´s structures and functions. The Department of Neurobiology is devoted to the study of the brain (its organization and functioning in health and diseases). To address a complete understanding of the brain´s functions, we adopt an integrative approach ? the techniques and concepts used in our investigations are taken from a wide range of disciplines, including, basically, neuroanatomy, additionally, neurophysiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, and behavioral neurobiology. In the Department of Neurobiology, aging-related neurodegeneration and cerebrovascular disease have become major concerns in researches. Focus of the research is on neuronal damage and protection in the ischemic brain, on endogenous neurogenesis in the brain during normal aging or in the damaged brain, on the morphological changes with neurosubstances in the normal aged brain, and on the medicines for neuroprotection, neurogenesis and anti-aging in the CNS.

본 연구실은 인간배아줄기세포, 간엽성줄기세포, 유도만능줄기세포 등 연구 및 실용화 단계에 있는 각종 줄기세포의 특성을 규명하고 분화에 따른 형태변화, 표지자 변화 등의 연구를 통해 분화 발생학적 규명 및 줄기세포 치료제의 품질에 관련된 기본적인 지식정보를 생산제공하고 있다.

FACS 나 면역화학적마커 검사로 규명하기 힘들었던 인간성체줄기세포의 기원을 생체조직과의 직접 비교를 통해 알아낼 수 있다.

연구원 : 이란 박사
이란 박사는 수의사로 강원대학교 수의대학교에서 수의학박사를 취득하고 2012년도부터 자궁-태반 연구실에서 포닥으로 근무하고 있습니다.

자궁-태반 연구실은 임신 기간중에 발생하는 태반과 자궁 생리를 연구하는 실험실로 주로 자간전증, 임신성 당뇨병의 병태생리를 연구한다 일반인에게 생소한 태반-자궁에 대해서 설명하면 일반적으로 임신 초기 수정란은 배아와 영양막세포로 구분되어서 성장한다. 임신 중 배아와 다른 수태물질에 성장을 돕기 위해서는 충분한 영양분과 산소 공급이 필요하고 이를 위해서는 영양막 세포는 모체의 조직과 결합해야 하는데 이 조직이 태반 자궁저 (Placenta bed)이다. 이 조직은 세부적으로는 태반-탈락막 연결 (Placenta-decidual communication), 태반-자궁근층연결 (Placeta-smooth muscle of uterus communication) 로 구분될 수 있는데 대부분의 임신은 태반-탈락막 연결이 매우 중요하다.

태반 자궁저 질환은 태반과 탈락막의 연결, 태반-자궁근층 연결에 문제가 있는 질환으로 대표적인 게 계류 유산 (Missed abortion), 임신 중독증 (Preeclampsia), 자궁내 태아성장지연 (Intrauterine growth restriction) 등이다.

본 연구실에서는 분만 후 발생하는 태반과 자궁저 조직을 이용하여 면역형광, western blot, real time PCR을 시행하고, 조직배양법을 이용하여 약물의 효과를 관찰한다.

My studies have been mainly focused on determining: 1) the cellular and molecular bases of host immune responses to infection and cancer, 2) ways of enhancing vaccination effectiveness through various ways, such as adjuvant strategies, immunization routes, DNA vaccines, subunit vaccines, peptide vaccines, delivery systems, dendritic cell application, and adenovirus gene delivery, 3) the underlying mechanism(s) of these applications for protective and therapeutic immunity. My current research interests are 1) to develop therapeutic vaccines against cancers of cervix, breast, colon and skin origins, 2) to study the immune escape mechansims of cancer cells and 3) to develop therapeutic antibodies against phlebovirus causing SFTS (severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome) and Ebola virus causing hemorrhagic fever.
